PRODUCTS
Optical Testing Instruments
The Measuring Equipment for Lenses and Optical Systems (MELOS) is designed to be a multi-purpose, vertical lens bench for making measurements of effective focal length, wedge, radius of curvature and centering.
A line of special telescopes specifically designed for measuring, testing and calibration applications in optical laboratories and optics production of eyepieces and lenses found in telescopes, binoculars, cameras and similar optical products.
The Camera Testing Instrument III can be used both for testing the adaptation of lenses directly to the camera and for the similar testing of the flange focal length of interchangeable lenses as well as issues with the zoom function.
The Secondary Image Angle Measuring Instrument (SIAM) is a measuring device for the determination of angles between primary and secondary images for windshields. Very helpful working with HUDs.

MELOS 530 - Measurement Equipment for Lenses and Optical Systems
The Measuring Equipment for Lenses and Optical Systems (MELOS) is designed to be a multi-purpose, vertical lens bench for making measurements of effective focal length, wedge, radius of curvature and centering.
The MELOS 530 is used for focal length, back focal length, radii and wedge angles which can be tested quickly and easily. Improvement to the mechanics and optics of the instrument make it possible to measure radius and back focal length from ±5 mm to ±530 mm. The measuring range can be decreased or increased on special request.

Typical Applications
The MELOS 530 (Measuring Equipment for Lenses and Optical Systems) can be used for the following applications:
-
Effective Focal Length (Positive EFL, Negative EFL)
-
Back Focal Length (BFL)
-
Convex and Concave Radii
-
Wedge Angle and Parallelism
Click on one of the buttons below to learn more about a specific application.
TYPICAL APPLICATIONS
Measurement of Positive EFL
The measuring collimator projects a reticle image to infinity. The specimen produces image of the reticle in its focal plane. The size of the reticle image is determined solely by the known focal length of collimator objective and the focal length of the specimen, which is to be measured. The measurement of the size of the projected reticle with a reading telescope consisting of an autocollimator and an attachment achromat gives the focal length. The measurement process is done menu-controlled by the display unit.
For measurement of positive focal lengths the combinations 1, 2, 3, 4 can be used.
Note: The Converter extends the measuring range of the effective focal lengths measurement down to ±1 mm. For these focal length a measurement accuracy of 0.3% is achieved.
TYPICAL APPLICATIONS
Measurement of Negative EFL
The measuring collimator projects a reticle image to infinity. The specimen produces virtual image of the reticle in its focal plane. The measurement of the size of the virtual reticle image with a reading telescope consisting of an autocollimator and an attachment achromat gives the focal length. The measurement process is done menu-controlled by the display unit.
For measurement of negative focal lengths the combinations 2, 3, 4 can be used.
Note: The Converter extends the measuring range of the effective focal lengths measurement down to ±1 mm. For these focal length a measurement accuracy of 0.3% is achieved.
TYPICAL APPLICATIONS
Measurement of Back Focal Length (BFL)
The measuring collimator projects a reticle image to infinity. The specimen produces this image in its focal plane. The reading telescope consists of an autocollimator and a microscope objective. By vertical shifting of the reading telescope the distance of the reticle image to the specimen surface is determined. The measurement process is done menu-controlled by the display unit.
For measurement of back focal length the combinations 1, 2, 3, 4 can be used.
TYPICAL APPLICATIONS
Measurement of Convex and Concave Radii
An autocollimator with attachment achromat is used. The autocollimator produces a reticle image in the focal plane of the attachment achromat. This configuration produces autocollimation images in the vertex and center of curvature of the surface of the specimen. The vertical distance R is the radius, which is to be measured. The measurement process is done menu-controlled by the display unit.
For measurement of convex and concave radii the combinations 3, 4, 6 can be used.
Convex Measurement
Concave Measurement
TYPICAL APPLICATIONS
Testing of Wedge Angles & Parallelism
An autocollimator with a reticle turret is used. The autocollimator is equipped with a set of six pinholes. Each pinhole represents a certain wedge angle. The parallel beam from the autocollimator is reflected at both surfaces of the specimen. Each reflection produces an autocollimation image. If both pinhole images coincide (a) the surfaces are parallel. Otherwise a double image occurs. The wedge angle can be inside (b) or outside (c) the tolerance limit defined by the pinhole.
For testing of wedge angle and parallelism the combinations 4 und 7 can be used.

Live-Image Kit
The Live-Image-Kit is included in scope of delivery of the Focus-Module!
The Live-Image-Kit is based on a full-fledged mini-PC (Windows® 10) in combination with 19" monitor. This mini-PC can also be ordered separately as a space-saving solution for running software as e.g. ELCOdirect and INTOMATIK-S in combination with the corresponding measurement system of the MÖLLER-WEDEL OPTICAL GmbH.
Note: It is also possible to order the C-Mount-Adapter separately, to connect your own camera type with our visual optical instruments (e.g. telescopes, autocollimators and alignment systems). We recommend ordering the corresponding eyepiece hull for the C-Mount Adapter. This replaces the diopter setting of classic eyepiece hull with the possibility to lock the focus position of the C-Mount adapter.
